Drainage Solutions for Driveways and Patios

Landmark Landscaping and Driveways always ensure that the correct drainage is in place for any driveway or patio installation they complete. Ensuring drainage is in place will prevent damage to your drive, patio or property and help protect the longevity of your new surface. The drainage solutions we use are called ACO Drainage products, which are channel drainage systems with a range of grating and accessories. ACO drainage is discrete and tidy, and an effective way of draining surface water from your drive or patio.

Every driveway or patio project is expertly assessed by the experienced team at Landmark Landscapes.  Proper drainage is essential for almost all driveways to prevent rainwater from pooling on the driveway's surface, causing surface damage.  The design of your driveway and the installation of drainage is also important to direct water away from your property to prevent damage and issues such as damp.

Some surfaces, such as resin-bound surfaces or permeable block paving, allow water to soak through, whilst other surfaces, such as natural sandstone or porcelain, will require drainage.

Driveways can sometimes be designed to slope away, so water runs off safely, or sometimes drainage systems like ACO Drainage Systems are installed to safely collect water and direct it to a drain or soakaway.

Landmark Driveways will carefully assess your driveway or patio project and ensure effective drainage is in place.

Generally we use ACO Drainage Systems.  These are channel drains that are durable, discreet and collect and re-direct surface water.

ACO Drains need occasional maintenance.  This includes making regular visual checks, clearing debris and leaves from the grates and channels, and sometimes it may be necessary to flush the channels with water.

An ACO Drain will usually be positioned at the lowest point of the drive or patio, often in front of doors, garages or property edges.  Proper positioning of ACO drains is important to ensure water is safely directed away from your property and not left pooling on the surface of your drive or patio.  Each project is carefully assessed by the experienced team at Landmark Landscapes to ensure the best placement of drains for the most effective drainage.

Driveway drainage is important to stop water pooling on the surface of the driveway or flooding near your property.  Lack of drainage can cause surface damage, foundation issues, damp, cracking, sinking or moss.  Poor drainage can also present safety issues and affect the longevity of your driveway surface.

Yes, ideally an ACO Drainage system needs to be connected to a discharge point such as a main surface water drain, a soakaway system or a rainwater harvesting tank.  An ACO Drain can discharge into a garden or gravel bed, but it's important to observe local drainage regulations.
